About the Big Chef

Peter Osborne - 'The Big Chef', is one of the most accomplished cooking presenters today. Classically trained in two of the most prestigious hotels in France, Peter is now re-established back in the UK and has picked up numerous cookery and service awards since his return. His approachable and lively style has won him fans around the world and in 2002 he was appointed as the official demonstration chef for The Daily Mail Ideal Home Show - the UK's leading home event.

Peter has an exceptional ability to communicate the passion in his cooking and holds a deep-seated belief that creating great food should be approached in a lively and fun way. Interviewed recently, he firmly set out his stall: "For years, many chefs have created a rather pretentious 'mystique' around what they do in the kitchen. A classic restaurant trick is to hide a really tasty - yet very simple - dish behind a fancy French name. The idea is to make people think that creating something similar at home would require decades of experience. Rubbish! With very few exceptions, most great food can be put together by almost anyone who has access to good fresh ingredients, a cooker and some basic kitchen equipment."

Moving on to discuss why he regularly moves out of the kitchen and into the media, Peter added: "My great love is de-mystifying the world of food - showing people how to spot the best ingredients and then put them together in a straightforward, yet memorable way. If they are smiling as they cook, then I feel that I've really succeeded!" No wonder then, that Peter Osborne is a favourite with television programme makers, radio stations and audiences alike.

Peters' TV credits include his own series for Granada TV, together with regular appearances on Breeze & Carlton Food Network. Other television work has included BBC Breakfast as well as extensive air time on a variety of stations in both Europe and the USA. A new show format is in discussion with several channels, but when interviewed Peter was keeping his cards close to his chest - "All that I'm going to say is that the format is something a little different - but I think viewers will thoroughly appreciate that. Enough! Watch this space!"

Very much a family man, Peter thoroughly enjoys a regular slot on BBC7 where he cooks 'live' with three children in the studio. A regular cookery spot on 'The Graham Rogers Show' at Classic Gold Radio, together with extensive work in regional programming, also make excellent use of his media-friendly vocal style.

In addition to broadcast work Peter has regularly contributed to printed media, including 'Yours' magazine and a variety of regional publications, where his recipes and columns entertain and inform with a trademark frank yet witty style.

Peter Osborne is a name known to live audiences around the UK with a 27 day residency in The Sizzling Kitchen feature at The Daily Mail Ideal Home Show together with appearances at 'The Restaurant Show' amongst others. In addition, his naturally frenetic and fun approach to live work has won him blue-chip corporate clients throughout the UK and Europe.

An increasingly prominent media profile has led to may requests for Peter to cater for people in their own home. "Even though I am increasingly busy with other work these days, I still love it." says Pete "I get a huge buzz from turning up at someone's house and cooking up a storm, be it for a private dinner party or a big social event." Countless hosts can attest that the passion he describes certainly shows through in the sensational meals that he creates.

Aware that people are searching for help in the kitchen every day, Peter also offers free cookery help via his personal website: www.thebigchef.com. A quick visit rapidly unearths a wealth or recipes, tips and kitchen secrets. A rare bonus is the opportunity to email questions - and Peter regularly works late into the night to ensure that all enquiries are still answered in person.
